Masjid Tawfiq

"Indeed, Allah loves those who do good"

Masjid Tawfiq was established on March 1st, 2013, to serve the growing Muslim community of Coventry. From humble beginnings—transforming a simple warehouse into a house of worship—our masjid has become a center for prayer, education, and community service.

The name Tawfiq (توفيق) carries deep meaning: it signifies success, divine guidance, and the enabling grace of Allah. Masjid Tawfiq is not just a place for prayer; it is a space where Allah grants His guidance to those seeking knowledge, worship, and unity.

"So remember Me; I will remember you"

The idea of building a dedicated masjid for the Somali Muslim community in Coventry began in 2005. As the Muslim population grew, so did the need for:

  • A dedicated place of worship
  • Islamic education for children and adults
  • Culturally sensitive social services to enhance community cohesion

In 2006, the community united, elected a committee, and rented a hall for Jummah, Eid, and Taraweeh prayers. By 2009, with the grace of Allah, a permanent location was secured under a lease-to-buy agreement, and in March 2013, the masjid was officially purchased.

With the tireless efforts and generosity of the community, the warehouse was transformed into Masjid Tawfiq, complete with:

  • A main prayer hall
  • A women’s prayer space
  • A library (Maktabah)
  • A wudu area & toilets
  • Classrooms for Islamic education
  • A fully equipped kitchen
  • A small hall for overflow prayers

Since opening in 2009, our Masjid has seen growing congregations, often exceeding capacity on Jummah, Eid, and other prayers. Many worshippers are left without space.

We seek your support to raise £450,000 to add a top floor, doubling our capacity and ensuring more can attend.

This will enable us to accommodate more people Insha Allah.
